DJRA Broadcasting Company History

Dr. Percey B. Crawford, having graduated from seminary, began his ministry through radio with program "Young People's Church of the Air" and was heard on 400 stations at one time.
Dr. Crawford began a TV program call "Youth on the March" on the ABC-TV network coast -to-coast; the first program of its kind in the world. By 1950, the demand for TV time became so great that ABC dropped the program.
Concerned about the accessibility of broadcast time for Christian programs, Dr. Crawford founded the Crawford Broadcasting Company. Christian ownership of broadcast properties would guarantee access to prime time.
The Crawford network of stations included properties in Philadelphia, Detroit, Lancaster, PA; Hammond, IN, Des Moines, IA, Ft. Lauderdale, and Portland, Or.
Death of Dr. Crawford. His son, Donald B. Crawford, along with several other Crawford children took over the business. During the 1960's, stations were added in Buffalo, El Reno, Ok, Birmingham, Al, Houston, Peoria, IL, Nashville and Dallas, TX.
Crawford Broadcasting Company is reorganized with Donald B. Crawford as President and Owner.
The Crawford Broadcasting Company operates Christian radio stations in the Dallas-Ft Worth, Detroit, Chicago, Southern California, Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse, Albany, Birmingham, Portland, Denver, San Francisco, St. Louis radio markets.
